Frequently Asked Questions

Anchored & Restored Counseling is currently a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly. If your insurance plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, I can provide a monthly superbill for you to submit for possible reimbursement. Because every plan is different, I recommend checking with your insurance provider to learn more about your specific out-of-network benefits.

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin understanding what brought you to counseling. We’ll talk about what you’ve been experiencing, what you hope to gain from therapy, and any relevant parts of your story that you feel comfortable sharing. There’s no expectation to unpack everything at once. We’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable and begin identifying a path forward together.

Faith can be incorporated into counseling for clients who would like it to be, but it is never required. If your faith is meaningful to you, we can thoughtfully include it as part of the therapeutic process. If you prefer counseling without a spiritual component, that will be fully respected. Our work together will always be shaped by your needs, values, and goals.

EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is an evidence-based approach designed to help the brain process distressing memories and experiences that may continue to affect how you feel today. Rather than relying solely on talking through an experience, EMDR uses a structured process to help reduce the emotional intensity connected to it. It can be especially helpful when you understand something intellectually but still feel emotionally stuck. You can learn more on the EMDR Therapy page.

There isn’t a set timeline that works for everyone. The length of counseling depends on what brings you in, the goals we establish together, and how those needs evolve over time. Some people are looking for support through a particular season or challenge, while others benefit from longer-term work. We’ll check in along the way so that therapy continues to feel purposeful and aligned with what you need.
-
Getting started is simple. Request a consultation to tell me a little about what you’re looking for and ask any initial questions you may have. From there, we can determine whether Anchored & Restored feels like the right fit and discuss scheduling your first appointment.
